Dear Candidate

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is a strongly performing, ambitious organisation with a commitment to providing high quality, safe and innovative care to our patients and their families and carers. We are the largest provider of mental health and substance misuse services to people living within the London boroughs of Camden and Islington. We also provide substance misuse and IAPT services in the borough of Kingston.

We have a strong international reputation for the quality of research we produce and support, and within the NHS for our innovative approach to service delivery. We have a broad and developing network of partnerships (including our Strategic Alliance with Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS Trust) and a commitment to embedding a focus on quality improvement across every facet of the Trust. We are driven by values and champion a culture of inclusion and empowerment across both our workforce and our service users.

We are proud that we treat 97% of service users in the community. We have plans to redevelop mental health facilities across the Camden and Islington estate. The redevelopment proposals are part of the Trust’s wider, clinical vision to provide the quality of mental health care that our service users deserve and expect and that is fit for the 21st century. This includes developing three new and vibrant integrated community mental health centres and a warm and welcoming inpatient facility. The redevelopment of the St Pancras site will also enable us to establish and develop the Institute of Mental Health, which will be integral in developing further both our reputation and impact.

We are rated ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission, and several services are rated as outstanding. We are pleased that after a critical report in 2014 a programme to improve standards led by our outgoing chair Leisha Fulick was successful.

With our strong commitment to quality improvement and to working in partnership with our service users, carers and local communities, we believe we are capable of delivering truly outstanding services across all our teams. We want our next Chair to lead both the Board of Directors and the Council of Governors to make this vision a reality and we are seeking to appoint an inspirational individual to build on the Trust’s success.

Please look at the information on this site and discuss the role with our search partner, GatenbySanderson. If you believe that you are the person we are seeking for this important role, we very much look forward to receiving your application.
